1. And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
雅各便给那地方起名叫毗努伊勒（就是神之面的意思），意思说，我面对面见了神，我的性命仍得保全。

2. And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.
到了第二天，摩西对百姓说，你们犯了大罪。我如今要上耶和华那里去，或者可以为你们赎罪。

3. But if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.
倘若他们不带兵器和你们一同过去，就要在迦南地你们中间得产业。

4. How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?
若不是他们的磐石卖了他们，若不是耶和华交出他们，一人焉能追赶他们千人，二人焉能使万人逃跑呢，

5. This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
这希西家也塞住基训的上源，引水直下，流在大卫城的西边。希西家所行的事尽都亨通。

6. For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.
以色列人和犹大人自从幼年以来，专行我眼中看为恶的事。以色列人尽以手所作的惹我发怒。这是耶和华说的。

7. There be the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, which are gone down with the slain; with their terror they are ashamed of their might; and they lie uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword, and bear their shame with them that go down to the pit.
在那里有北方的众王子和一切西顿人，都与被杀的人下去。他们虽然仗着势力使人惊恐，还是蒙羞。他们未受割礼，和被刀杀的一同躺卧，与下坑的人一同担当羞辱。
